Martins Otse, a activist, critic and social media influencer popularly known as VeryDarkMan has made a significant shift in his response to the allegations brought against him by the House of Representatives after they issued an order for his detention.
Following Bobrisky’s absence during an investigative hearing regarding allegations of a 15 million naira bribery scandal involving the Economic Financial Crime Commission and Nigeria Correctional Centre in Abuja on Monday.
Initially, VDM declined to engage with the Rep members, citing the investigation’s basis on Bobrisky’s accusations against the EFCC and the Nigeria Correctional Centre, and claiming that in Bobrisky’s absence, he would not speak without his lawyer present.
After some back-and-forth, VDM eventually revealed details with the guidance of his legal counsel.
In his statement, VDM mentioned that the investigative hearing stemmed from a viral video he posted online, which was in response to blackmail threats from Bobrisky’s money lender.
In the context of godfatherism and displays of influence, Idris Oguneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, refused to attend a public hearing organized by the Nigerian House of Representatives to probe an alleged N15 million bribery accusation and the circumstances surrounding his confinement in a private residence.
Bobrisky, the central figure in the case, was noticeably absent during the hearing; his attorney represented him, citing his client’s purported illness as the reason for his nonattendance.
In response, the lawmakers questioned why Bobrisky’s lawyer did not provide a medical certificate to substantiate his illness claim.
It’s worth noting that VeryDarkMan, via his Instagram platform, leaked an audio recording where the crossdresser recounted his six-month prison ordeal to a friend.
In the leaked audio, Bobrisky claimed that the EFCC extorted N15 million from him to dismiss the money laundering charges.
He further alleged that he served his sentence in a private residence after his mentor contacted the Comptroller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The hearing, conducted by the House Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions, commenced around 2:05 p.m. upon the arrival of Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, and his legal representative, Deji Adeyanju.
The House of Representatives reiterated that the purpose of the inquiry was to address allegations against government commissions and agencies. They emphasized their commitment to scrutinizing allegations of corruption within government institutions.
