The relief provisions, transported to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, were formally presented by UAE Ambassador Salem Alshamsi.
The ambassador highlighted that this generous contribution, instigated by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Al Nahyan, showcases the UAE’s enduring dedication to aiding nations affected by natural calamities.
Officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) officially accepted the provisions on behalf of the affected individuals.
Dr. Ahmed Dunoma, the Permanent Secretary of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, conveyed appreciation on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, while recognizing the robust relations between Nigeria and the UAE.
Mrs. Zubaida Umar, the Director-General of NEMA, expressed gratitude towards the UAE Government for this benevolent gesture, emphasizing that it will undoubtedly complement the resolute endeavors of the Federal Government in offering relief and aiding those affected by the floods in their recovery efforts.
