The Lagos State Police have arraigned two women, Mmesuma Ofunna, 22, and Blessing Adimekwe, 25, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court on charges of obtaining money under false pretenses, conspiracy, theft, and conduct likely to breach public peace.
The defendants, who appeared before Magistrate L.K.J. Layeni, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, the alleged offense occurred on October 26 in the Okokomaiko area of Ojo. The prosecutor stated that the two women, in collaboration with others still at large, obtained ₦70,000 from one Faith Ahamefule under the false promise of not posting her nude photos on social media.
Despite receiving the money, the defendants allegedly posted the victim’s nude photos online, thereby violating their promise. They were also accused of stealing the ₦70,000 and acting in a manner that could disturb public peace.

The offenses contravene Sections 168(d), 287, 314, and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The court granted each defendant bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like amount. The case was adjourned to January 8, 2025, for mention.
