
President Bola Tinubu has directed the immediate provision of comprehensive medical care for those injured in the tragic fuel tanker explosion at Dikko Junction, Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State.
He has also instructed security and road safety agencies to implement measures to prevent similar disasters in the future.
The explosion, which occurred on Saturday, resulted in significant loss of life and injuries, with many victims reportedly scooping Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from the overturned tanker before the blast.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy), President Tinubu expressed deep sorrow over the incident. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families, as well as to the government and people of Niger State.

Emphasizing the preventable nature of the tragedy, the President urged Nigerians to exercise extreme caution and avoid accident sites, particularly those involving fuel-laden vehicles, due to the high risk of explosion.
President Tinubu has directed the National Orientation Agency to launch a nationwide awareness campaign. The initiative will educate the public on the grave dangers of collecting fuel from fallen tankers and the broader environmental hazards associated with such practices.
