
President Bola Tinubu has directed the National Pension Commission (PenCom) to fast-track the implementation of free healthcare services for low-income retirees across Nigeria, alongside an immediate commencement of the recently approved pension increase.
During a briefing at the State House, the President also ordered PenCom’s Director-General to urgently resolve the long-standing issue surrounding police pensions.
He stressed that officers who dedicate their lives to national security “deserve to retire with dignity and peace of mind.”
The PenCom DG updated President Tinubu on ongoing efforts to safeguard the value of pension fund assets against inflation and macroeconomic shocks.

She also revealed plans to introduce foreign currency contributions to enable Nigerians in the diaspora to participate in the country’s pension scheme.
President Tinubu fully endorsed these reforms, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving retirees’ welfare and strengthening Nigeria’s pension system.
