President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima and other eminent Nigerians on their conferment as Fellows of the Nigerian Economic Society (NES), describing the honour as a recognition of their outstanding contributions to economic policy, research, and national development.
In a statement issued over the weekend by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President said the conferment, which took place on Monday, September 8, reflects the awardees’ exemplary service, intellectual depth, and commitment to Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation.
He commended Vice President Shettima for his visionary leadership and relentless drive in advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in promoting inclusive growth, job creation, and sustainable development.
The President also applauded Dr. Iyabo Masha, renowned economist and Director of the Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four on International Monetary Affairs and Development (G-24), for her role in shaping economic policy. He recalled her service as a member of the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (2019–2022), which advised former President Muhammadu Buhari on key policy issues.
Tinubu described the recognition of Shettima, Dr. Masha, and others as “well-deserved and an inspiration to upcoming economists, researchers, and policy experts across the country.”
