Mr Halim Zaccah Adebola, Chairman of the Rivers State Teqball Association, says the sport is gaining momentum across Nigeria.
Adebola said this in a telephone interview with hotnewsroundup.com from Port Harcourt.
He noted that many states had embraced the game, adding that 18 states participated in the first National Teqball League held in Aba, Abia State.
“Teqball is becoming very popular in the country. Abia State has gone far in the game and currently has more than 25 Teqball boards.
“These boards were used during the first National Teqball League, and it served as an eye-opener for other states,” he said.
Adebola also disclosed that the owner of Remo Stars Football Club had promised to build a mini Teqball stadium in Ogun State.
He said the development would further boost the growth of the sport in the state.
Speaking on Team Rivers’ performance at the league, Adebola said the team finished second overall, winning two gold and one bronze medals.
According to him, the team won medals in four of the five categories featured at the competition.
He commended the Abia State Government for hosting the league.

Adebola also praised the Rivers State Government for its support for the association.
He, however, appealed for more funding and improved infrastructure to further develop the sport.
