Yola, Adamawa State — The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Adamawa State has dismissed as false and malicious a social media report claiming that its Chairman had been beheaded.
In a statement released on Saturday, the state leadership of CAN described the viral report as “fake news from agents of the underworld,” designed to incite fear, discredit government institutions, and create confusion in an already tense national atmosphere.
“The general public should disregard such fake information. The state CAN Chairman is in good health and busy going about his official engagements without any threat, fear, or intimidation,” the statement clarified.
CAN condemned the circulation of the false story, stressing that such actions are not only dangerous to public peace and security but also amount to an affront to the state government’s ongoing efforts to maintain unity and safeguard lives and property.

The association further called on security agencies in the state to investigate and apprehend those behind the misinformation campaign.
Meanwhile, CAN expressed appreciation to the Adamawa State Police Command for promptly issuing a statement on the matter and urged the police to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of the culprits to serve as a deterrent to others spreading fake news.
