It is with profound sorrow and remorse that we announce the passing of a distinguished official of the Nigeria Customs Service who was present at the National Assembly for a meeting with a House Committee.
During the meeting, which took place at approximately 1.00pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the official experienced sudden health complications. Despite the prompt and diligent efforts of first responders and medical personnel at the National Assembly Clinic, he tragically passed away.
In consideration of the family, the identity of the official will not be disclosed at this time.
The House of Representatives offers its sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased during this challenging period. We acknowledge the significant contributions he made to the Nigeria Customs Service and our nation.
The House of Representatives is prepared to assist in efforts to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident and is fully cooperating with all relevant authorities to ensure adherence to all required protocols.
The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD., conveyed his condolences, remarking, “We are profoundly grieved by the abrupt departure of a devoted public servant. Our thoughts are with his family during this trying time.”
