The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH) has confirmed receiving the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF) from Anambra State Government.
Dr. Joy Okwumuo, President of ARD-COOUTH, announced the development on Thursday in Awka.
She appreciated Gov Chukwuma Soludo for fulfilling his promise.
Recall that the doctors embarked on a warning strike from Sept.11 to 13 which was suspended following the governor’s intervention.
The Governor promised to pay the MRTF and implement an upward review of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS).
“On behalf of ARD-COOUTH members, I confirm that the Soludo administration has commenced MRTF payments.
” We’re grateful for this and for the approval of the CONMESS review, both of which will improve our working conditions,” she said.
Okwumuo expressed optimism that the remaining demands would be met soon.

“We hope there will be recruitment of more doctors and House Officers to help mitigate the impact of brain drain on the hospital.”
She affirmed the doctors’ continued commitment to supporting the Soludo administration’s healthcare agenda.
