The Sokoto State Ministry of Health is ramping up efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of its Formal Sector Program, aimed at providing affordable and accessible healthcare to state and local government workers, as well as pensioners.
As part of the preparations, the Ministry recently convened a strategic roundtable meeting with parastatal leaders and directors to streamline plans for the program’s rollout.
Addressing the participants, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Asabe Balarabe, emphasized the critical need to raise awareness of the program across all local government areas.
She reiterated the Ministry’s dedication to creating a healthcare system that effectively serves both workers and retirees in the state.
“Collaboration between the Ministry and its agencies is essential to achieving the goals of the Formal Sector Program,” Dr. Balarabe stated.
Following the meeting, the Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Contributory Healthcare Scheme and Agency Trust (SOSACAT), Sale Ibrahim Durbawa, and the Head of the Drug and Medical Supply Agency, Pharm. Umar Attahiru, expressed confidence in their teams’ readiness to execute the program successfully.
The Director-General of the Sokoto State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, Yusuf Abu Abdulkareem, also confirmed that all necessary arrangements for the program’s launch have been finalized, with the official commencement expected soon.
This initiative is a key component of the state government’s broader strategy to enhance access to quality healthcare for its workforce and pensioners, reinforcing its commitment to improving the well-being of its citizens.
