
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has named Saminu Ibrahim, publisher of SINL Nigeria Online, as the recipient of its 2024 Media Award.
The honor was announced during an elaborate ceremony at the NHRC headquarters in Maitama, Abuja, on Tuesday.
The event was held to mark the 2024 International Human Rights Day (IHRD) under the theme “Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now.” The annual observance celebrates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and serves as the culmination of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which began on November 25.

Dignitaries in attendance included the NHRC Executive Secretary, Dr. Tony Ojukwu SAN; the NHRC Governing Council Chairperson, Dr. Salamatu Suleiman; United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, His Excellency Mohammed Fall; and Senior Human Rights Advisor, Adwoa Kufour. Also present were the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi SAN, represented by Mrs. Roseline Tasha, as well as members of the diplomatic corps and other key stakeholders.
The award highlights Ibrahim’s exceptional contributions to promoting human rights awareness through journalism.
