Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen of Edo State has described the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention as a “resounding success,” emphasizing the event’s role in promoting national unity and party cohesion.
Speaking on the sidelines of the convention in Abuja, Senator Imasuen highlighted the president’s speech as a key moment, noting that it underscored the unity of the country while clarifying misconceptions about one-party dominance. “The president stressed that Nigeria is not a one-party state. Every citizen enjoys freedom of movement and association, and no one is being coerced into joining a political group,” he said.
The senator also lauded the convention for reinforcing the party’s internal harmony, linking it to broader national cohesion. “The convention has been successful in showcasing the unity of the APC, which reflects the unity of Nigeria. Everything we set out to achieve here has been accomplished,” he stated.
On the topic of continuity in governance, Senator Imasuen pointed to the president’s achievements over the past three years as evidence that ongoing policies are bearing fruit. He cited economic stabilization, including improvements in the naira-dollar exchange rate, as well as initiatives that support youth development, such as the student loan program that is already benefiting nearly one million students.
“The trajectory is clear. Development, economic stability, and human capital growth have all improved. Continuing this path promises further progress in infrastructure, economy, and human development,” he noted.
Senator Imasuen expressed optimism about the future, adding that sustained progress depends on continued commitment and divine guidance. “If this trajectory continues, the country is well on its way to emerging stronger. Progress and economic improvement are what we should be expecting,” he said.
The APC National Convention, held in Abuja, has drawn attention for its strategic focus on unity, party discipline, and national development, with stakeholders agreeing that the event sets the tone for the party’s agenda in the coming years.
As the convention concluded, party leaders and delegates reflected on the president’s speech as a reaffirmation of the APC’s commitment to inclusive governance and policy continuity.
