Senator Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, OFR, representing Osun East Senatorial District and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry, expresses deep sorrow over the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
Lt. Gen. Lagbaja passed away on Wednesday in Lagos following a brief illness.
Senator Fadahunsi commended the late COAS as a dedicated and accomplished officer who devoted his life to the service of the nation and died in the line of duty. He highlighted Gen. Lagbaja’s significant efforts in countering terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping—persistent challenges that have troubled the country.
As the nation grieves the untimely loss of this distinguished officer, Senator Fadahunsi expressed hope that Gen. Lagbaja’s successor will build upon his legacy, effectively addressing the nation’s security issues and safeguarding its territorial integrity to fulfill the late General’s vision of a secure and peaceful Nigeria.
Senator Fadahunsi extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Government and people of Osun State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Nigerian Army. He urged them to take solace in the knowledge that Gen. Lagbaja lived a life of purpose and has found peace with his creator.
“My prayers are with his wife, Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, the entire family, the Government and people of Osun State, and the entire nation,” Senator Fadahunsi said.
