Senator Abba Patrick Moro, PhD, representing Benue South Senatorial District and serving as Senate Minority Leader, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, who died on Wednesday following a brief illness.

In a heartfelt statement on behalf of the Senate minority caucus, Senator Moro praised the late General Lagbaja as a courageous and dedicated officer who served Nigeria with honor until his final days.

Reflecting on Lagbaja’s tenure, Senator Moro highlighted his leadership in confronting terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, which continue to challenge the country. “As the nation mourns this tremendous loss, I hope his successor will rise to the occasion, continuing to confront our security challenges and uphold Nigeria’s territorial integrity. May we strive to fulfill the late General’s vision for a secure and peaceful nation,” he stated.

Senator Moro extended his deepest condolences to the General’s wife, Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja, his family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Nigerian Army. He urged them to take solace in knowing that General Lagbaja led a meaningful life of service and has now found peace.
