The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, has cautioned the management of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), led by Comptroller General Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, against undermining the constitutional authority of the National Assembly.
Senator Oshiomhole issued the warning during an oversight visit to the NIS headquarters in Abuja.
He emphasized that the National Assembly, as the representative of the Nigerian people, has the constitutional right to oversee all government agencies and ensure accountability.

“The National Assembly will not abdicate its responsibilities. We have experienced disappointments in our interactions with the Nigeria Immigration Service, raising concerns about whether the agency has something to hide,” Senator Oshiomhole said.
He further stressed that the National Assembly remains committed to holding government agencies accountable to Nigerians. The Committee directed the NIS to submit its nominal roll and budget performance report for 2024 during the next budget defense session.
In her response, Comptroller General Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap assured the Senate Committee that the NIS would fully cooperate with the National Assembly to ensure quality service delivery for Nigerians.
