The Senate Committee on Police Affairs, on Wednesday, screened and approved the presidential nominees for the Police Service Commission after resolving to an executive session.
The nominees include:
DIG Buba Ringim (Rtd) – Member
Hon. Justice Adamu Paul Galumje (Rtd) – Member
Christine Ladi Dabup – Member
Abdulfatah Muhammed – Member
The screening session was chaired by Senator Abdulhamid Mallam-Madori Ahmed, representing the Jigawa North East Senatorial District.
Following an executive session with the nominees, Senator Ahmed addressed the press, describing the nominees as highly capable and well-suited to fulfill the mandate for which they were nominated by the President.
Explaining the decision why resolved to an executive session, briefing the press, Senator Ahmed noted that certain security-related matters discussed with the nominees could not be disclosed publicly.
He stated: “This is a security committee, and we had to ask the nominees questions related to the nation’s security that could not be shared openly. After their introductions and presentations, we delved into critical matters that required confidentiality.”

Regarding expectations for the Police Service Commission, the Senator expressed optimism about improved collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and the Inspector General of Police.
“There will be synergy in addressing the challenges that have existed in the past. The commission will work hand-in-hand with the police command to find solutions.
However, our recommendations will be submitted to the Senate, which will make the final decision,” He added.
