The Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Nigeria coalition and the National Stakeholders Working Group (NSWG) of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) have extended their condolences to the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO) following the passing of its former Director General, Engr. Mohammed Amate.
In a condolence visit held at the NMCO headquarters, the delegations commiserated with the current Director General, Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, represented by Engr. Mustapher of the Monitoring and Coordination Department. They expressed sympathy to the NMCO family and prayed for the repose of the late Engr. Amate’s soul.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Head of Press, Patrick Chika Osuji, the visit highlighted the enduring partnership and mutual respect among the institutions working to reform Nigeria’s extractive sector.
Speaking during the visit, the leader of the delegation, Dr. Erisa Dauda, reaffirmed PWYP and NSWG’s dedication to promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable development in the mining industry. He also presented a template to the NMCO for further input as part of ongoing collaborative efforts.

Engr. Mustapher, on behalf of the DG, expressed gratitude for the show of solidarity and reiterated NMCO’s commitment to deepening reform efforts in the sector.
The visit was attended by senior NMCO officials and representatives from NEITI, NSWG, and PWYP Nigeria.
