The Chairman of Orumba South Local Government Area in Anambra State, Mr. Shedrack Azubuike, has urged parents and caregivers to ensure their children receive immunisation against the poliovirus.
Azubuike made the appeal on Thursday during the flag-off of the National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs) campaign in the LGA. The vaccination exercise is scheduled to commence on Saturday, May 3.
“Immunisation is a crucial step in boosting the health and immunity of our children,” he said. “I appeal to all parents, especially mothers, to take 
of this opportunity and protect their children from the poliovirus.”
He emphasized the importance of community participation in the vaccination campaign, noting that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo is committed to safeguarding the health of children across the state.
“Governor Soludo is doing everything possible to protect our children. It is our collective responsibility to support this effort,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, Mrs. Chisom Uchem, Executive Secretary of the Anambra State Primary Health Care Development Agency, stated that the campaign targets children between the ages of zero and 59 months.

She assured the public that the vaccine is free, safe, and effective, and offers protection against poliomyelitis—a highly infectious disease that can cause paralysis or death in children.
In his remarks, the traditional ruler of Eziagu community, Igwe Bernard Emejuo, commended Governor Soludo for his proactive health initiatives. He pledged his support for the immunisation campaign and vowed to mobilize his community to ensure its success.
