The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has urged the youth across the nation to champion peace, uphold focus, and exhibit innovation in all their endeavors to tackle the prevailing challenges in the country.
His call came during a meeting with the leadership of the APC X (Twitter) Eagle Forum at his residence in Abuja over the weekend.
Senator Barau, who serves as the First Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, highlighted that the future of Nigeria lies in the hands of the youth, emphasizing the need for them to prepare themselves to lead with the nation’s best interests at heart.
Reflecting on his early political journey, Senator Barau recalled being mentored by patriotic statesmen such as the late Malam Aminu Kano and Alhaji Abubakar Rimi, who selflessly dedicated their time, energy, and resources to the nation’s development.
“These leaders devoted their lives to the advancement of Nigeria, and it is our duty to carry forth their legacy with integrity and dedication,” he remarked.
He underscored the significance of constructive political involvement, advising forum members to concentrate on promoting the accomplishments of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rather than engaging in divisive discourse.
“You hold a pivotal role in politics, especially now as the future leaders. The nation relies on your readiness and preparedness to assume leadership roles; hence, you should emulate patriotic leaders who consistently prioritize the nation’s welfare.
“I commend you for establishing this forum as it will fortify our party and government. Therefore, I urge you to maintain focus and adhere to the correct path for the nation’s improvement,” he added.
In their respective statements, the Chairman and Secretary of the forum, Ahmad Gogel and Muhammad Ibrahim Tudun Wada, lauded the Deputy President of the Senate for sponsoring the bill for the establishment of the North West Development Commission (NWDC).
Expressing gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for endorsing the bill, they highlighted that once the commission becomes operational, it will aid in addressing the challenges encountered by the North West geopolitical zone.
They formally presented a nomination letter to Senator Barau as the forum’s Grand Patron.
