
The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Professor Joseph Terlumun Utsev, on Friday, received Super Falcons star and Benue native, Miss Francisca Ordega, in his office in Abuja and congratulated her and her teammates for their triumphant victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Welcoming Ordega alongside the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, Professor Utsev expressed pride in the Super Falcons’ remarkable achievement, noting that their 10th WAFCON title was a moment of national celebration and pride.
In a press statement by his Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Terhemen Oraduen, the Minister also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support for the team, including the conferment of national honours and the generous rewards provided to the players.
“The Super Falcons’ outstanding performance at the tournament is a shining example of discipline, determination, and teamwork,” Utsev said. “I am particularly proud that a daughter of Benue has played a key role in this historic victory. We will continue to support and encourage our youth to excel in sports and other endeavours.”

In her remarks, Miss Ordega expressed deep appreciation for the recognition, describing Professor Utsev as a “brother and uncle,” and thanked the people of Benue, President Tinubu, and all Nigerians for their support. She urged the Minister to sustain his support for grassroots sports development in the state to help discover and nurture new talents.
During the event, Professor Utsev also decorated Mr. Paul Akusu, a police officer attached to his escort team, who was recently promoted from Sergeant to Inspector. The Minister praised Akusu for his dedication to duty and urged him to continue exemplifying commitment and professionalism in service.
