The Kaduna State Police Command has initiated a comprehensive investigation into an alleged assassination attempt on Senator Usman Lawal, representing Kaduna-Central under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna, the command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, announced that Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu has directed a full-scale inquiry into the matter.
Hassan stated, “The alleged assassination attempt on Senator Usman Lawal is currently unknown to the police. The command’s attention was drawn to a Facebook post made by Senator Usman Lawal, claiming he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by unknown assailants in Kaduna North on Wednesday. The post, however, lacked specific details such as the time or exact location of the incident.

“To date, the command has not received any formal complaint from the senator regarding this matter. Efforts to contact him for further clarification have so far been unsuccessful.”
In light of the situation, the commissioner has ordered an in-depth investigation to ascertain the facts and circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.
“The Kaduna State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents within the state,” Hassan added.
