PASAN Disowns Planned ‘Concerned Staff’ Protest, Urges Members to Shun Unauthorised Action at National Assembly
Abuja – The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has distanced itself from a planned protest allegedly being organised by a group calling itself “Concerned Staff” within the National Assembly.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Comrade Sunday Sabiyyi, PASAN made it clear that it has no connection whatsoever with the purported protest, which was reportedly being circulated on a WhatsApp platform known as “NASS FORUM.”
The statement explained that while the organisers claimed the demonstration was over unresolved staff issues, most of these matters had already been addressed by the National Assembly management. It added that PASAN had constituted a committee to review any remaining “grey areas,” with ongoing engagement between the union and management.
“We strongly advise all PASAN members to remain at their duty posts and go about their legitimate business within the complex,” Sabiyyi stated. “We do not support or condone any form of protest or picketing that disrupts the functioning of the National Assembly.”
The union stressed the importance of professionalism and the need to protect the image of the legislature, warning that unauthorised protests could undermine the institution’s integrity.

PASAN also urged the National Assembly management to investigate the source of the planned protest and take necessary measures to prevent any disruption. It further encouraged open communication with staff to reinforce discipline and decorum within the premises.
Reaffirming its commitment to dialogue, PASAN assured that it will continue to collaborate with the National Assembly management to address staff-related concerns through lawful and constructive engagement.
