
The Katsina State Government has commended the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, and the collaborative efforts of the Police, DSS, Community Watch Corps, and Vigilantes for a successful operation against bandits in Jibia Local Government Area.
In a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, and shared with newsmen, the government lauded the operation’s effectiveness in combating banditry in the region.
The operation, conducted on January 4, 2025, followed credible intelligence reports regarding the establishment of bandit camps, which had fueled criminal activities in Jibia, Batsari, and Batagarawa Local Government Areas.

Dr. Mu’azu disclosed that the joint air and ground operation resulted in the neutralization of over 80 bandits, with several others sustaining injuries.
“The operation also destroyed the bandits’ hideouts and key operational facilities, significantly weakening their operational capacity,” the statement read.
The Katsina State Government expressed profound gratitude to the security forces for their unwavering commitment to restoring peace and stability in the state and the broader North West region.
