Orodata Science, in partnership with the Africa Data Hub (ADH), has launched the PHC Innovation Hackathon, a national data-driven competition aimed at developing innovative tools to strengthen primary healthcare (PHC) delivery across Nigeria.
Announcing the initiative, the organisers said the hackathon seeks to empower data scientists, software developers, public health professionals, and technology innovators to design practical solutions that address critical challenges in PHC, including inefficient resource allocation, poor infrastructure visibility, limited access to healthcare services, and inadequate data for planning.
Participants will have access to a comprehensive PHC data repository, covering infrastructure, service delivery, welfare, inclusivity and telecommunication maps. Mentors from Orodata Science and Africa Data Hub will support competing teams throughout the development process.
According to the organisers, participants are expected to submit their ideas not later than November 6, 2025, ahead of a hybrid Demo Day scheduled to take place on November 8, 2025, at The Colossus Hotel, Sheraton Opebi Link Road, Ikeja, Lagos. The top five shortlisted teams will pitch their solutions to a panel of experts.
The organisers also announced a prize pool of ₦1 million for the top three winning teams. The first-place winner will receive ₦1,000,000, second place ₦600,000, while third place will go home with ₦200,000.
Interested applicants are required to complete the online registration form before the deadline of November 6, 2025, review the rules and regulations, and access available datasets via CheckMyPHC.org and the registration portal.
The hackathon, according to Orodata Science, provides a platform for leveraging data and technology to improve access to quality healthcare in rural and underserved communities across Nigeria.
