First Lady Oluremi Tinubu graciously distributed 1,200 25kg bags of rice to rural women, vulnerable individuals, and those less fortunate in Anambra State as a means to alleviate the impacts of economic adversity.
Represented by the Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, the distribution took place in Awka under the auspices of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
This initiative was designed to offer respite to those who have been adversely affected by the prevailing economic challenges in the nation.
Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the government’s acknowledgment of these challenges and highlighted this distribution as part of ongoing efforts to mitigate their effects. She urged Nigerians to continue supporting and praying for the government as it endeavors to enhance the quality of life for all citizens.
Dr. Soludo, the Founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, not only oversaw the distribution of these essential supplies but also facilitated complimentary comprehensive medical examinations and cancer screenings for the women.
Beneficiaries underwent screenings to ascertain their HIV status, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, Body Mass Index, as well as cervical and breast cancer evaluations.
She encouraged women to prioritize regular medical check-ups to prevent health complications or fatalities, emphasizing that health is the most valuable asset one can possess. She urged mothers to safeguard the well-being of their children by embracing immunization protocols and practicing exclusive breastfeeding.
Dr. Afam Obidike, the state’s Commissioner of Health, expressed gratitude to the Governor’s wife for her commitment to promoting women’s health through health awareness campaigns and free cancer screening initiatives.
A beneficiary, Mrs. Adanna Akaora from Oyi Local Government Area, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to the organizers of the program, acknowledging that the palliative aid would significantly alleviate the current hardships experienced by her household.
