Senator Darlington Nwokocha has emphasized on the Impacts of oil theft to nation’s revenue, saying that crude oil and gas are the basic revenue driving of the country’s economy
He added that crude oil and gas is the live wire of the country. Nigeria’s economy is on a downward trend as a result of oil theft and pipeline vandalism.
The Senator representing Abia Central senatorial district made this assertion on Wednesday at the senate Ad-hoc fact finding committee on oil theft and pipeline vandalism held in Abuja.
He noted that the committee is backed by the National Assembly, saying the committee is serious to get to the root of the disturbing cause of oil theft and pipeline vandalism and provide panacea.
“We have all your submissions, Nigeria is bigger than all of us, the legislature has the highest mandate to investigate anybody.
“What we are doing today is to collect your data.
“What we are saying is when we invite you, we will like to see all those who can talk to the committee”.
The lawmaker further said the work of the Ad-hoc committee is an open-ended interaction, stressing “our investigation will touch all the fabrics”.
Nwokocha explained that the target is to boost crude oil production in Nigeria.
