The Ogun Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted significant quantities of cannabis sativa and Tramaking tablets, a brand of tramadol, with a combined value of ₦117,587,405.
The seizures were made at various border locations across the state and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Addressing the media on Friday, Comptroller James Ojo, the Area Controller, emphasized that the operation highlighted the alarming rise in drug trafficking along the nation’s borders.
He commended the efforts of his officers in curbing the menace and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding communities from the devastating effects of illicit drugs.
Breakdown of the Seized Items
According to Comptroller Ojo, the intercepted contraband included:
5,256 coconut-sized wraps of cannabis sativa, valued at ₦46,981,742.
46 book-sized wraps of cannabis sativa, valued at ₦411,179.
1,202 bread-sized wraps of cannabis sativa, valued at ₦10,744,302.
