A media strategist and grassroots politician, Nelson Ogbu, has declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Benue State House of Assembly under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), signaling a significant development in the political landscape of Ado State Constituency.
Ogbu, popularly known as “The Patriot,” previously served as a two-time Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom. His entry into the race is seen by observers as a strategic move that could reshape political dynamics in the constituency.
With a background that spans governance, communication, and public service, Ogbu brings a diverse skill set to the contest. His academic qualifications include a National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism, and a Master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies.
He is also the publisher of Truepointnews Online, Magazines, and Newspapers, a media platform through which he has advocated accountability and amplified grassroots voices.
Declaring his ambition, Ogbu pledged to prioritize transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance if elected. He outlined key focus areas to include education, healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment, noting that these sectors remain critical to the development of Ado State Constituency.
