Obijackson Founder Commissions New Hostels, Classrooms as Gonzaga Jesuit College Strengthens Commitment to Excellence
Okija, Anambra State — The Founder of Gonzaga Jesuit College, Okija, and Chairman of the Obijackson Group, Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, has reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to quality education and youth development as he led the 2025 Benefactors’ Day celebration, during which newly completed buildings were commissioned at the institution.
The event, held at the school premises in Okija, drew together students, parents, staff members, Jesuit priests, community leaders, alumni, and benefactors to honour the generosity and vision that continue to shape the growth of the school.
As part of the celebration, Dr. Obiejesi formally commissioned two modern hostels for male and female students, a new classroom block, and upgraded facilities at the Jesuit Academy. The new infrastructure significantly enhances the learning and living environment, reinforcing the college’s mission to deliver world-class education and character formation.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Azudialu-Obiejesi underscored the transformative power of education and his personal commitment to investing in the future of young people.
“Education is one of the greatest gifts we can give to the next generation. It prepares our children to face life’s challenges, think critically, and grow into responsible citizens. We were once like these children, and it is our duty to create environments that help them discover who they are and what they can become,” he said.
He expressed deep appreciation to the Jesuit leadership and the wider school community for their unwavering dedication in advancing the institution’s vision. According to him, Benefactors’ Day serves as a vital platform to acknowledge the generosity and sacrifices of individuals and organisations that laid the foundation of the school and continue to propel its growth.
Despite prevailing national challenges, Dr. Obiejesi thanked God for the success of this year’s celebration and pledged further support to enhance students’ welfare and academic experience, including improvements in electricity supply and additional campus expansion.
The day began with a Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Jude Obiaka, President of the college, who described Gonzaga Jesuit College as “a garden for greatness, a sanctuary for learning, and a community where young people discover their purpose.” He emphasized that Benefactors’ Day is a moment of thanksgiving and a reminder of the collective effort behind the school’s progress.
Members of the school community expressed profound gratitude for the newly commissioned facilities and the founder’s unwavering dedication.
The School Principal, Rev. Fr. Franklyn Ibeli (SJ), the Vice Principal (Academic Affairs), Rev. Sr. Vivian Chidimma Eke, and the Head Girl, Vinisa Umeji, all lauded Dr. Obiejesi for his visionary leadership and sustained investment in the institution’s development.
In a heartwarming highlight of the event, Dr. Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi and his wife, Dr. Nnenna Obiejesi, presented school bags to every student, symbolising their support for the learners’ academic journey.
The Benefactors’ Day celebration concluded with joy, reflection, and a renewed commitment to the values of excellence, service, and leadership upon which Gonzaga Jesuit College was founded.
