Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the resumption of passenger train services on the Abuja-Kaduna corridor, effective Wednesday, October 1, 2025, following comprehensive safety and operational checks.
In a statement signed by Callistus Unyimadu, Chief Public Relations Officer, NRC Management emphasized that the move underscores the Corporation’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and secure train services for the public.
The announcement comes after the August 26, 2025, incident that affected 618 passengers. NRC confirmed that 530 passengers were contacted by phone, with 512 successfully receiving refunds. All 22 injured passengers have received follow-up care from NRC’s medical team and will be entitled to one free ride per week until December 31, 2025. Additionally, all passengers on board during the incident are eligible for one free ride before the end of the year.

NRC also announced that every Wednesday will be designated for maintenance of the Abuja-Kaduna train service.
