The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, has reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s population and development agenda with a courtesy visit to the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate in Abuja.
The visit, held on Monday, was aimed at finalizing preparations for the highly anticipated 2025 Annual Population Lecture Series (APLS), a flagship platform that convenes policymakers, development partners, and key stakeholders to address pressing demographic and developmental challenges.

Hon. Kwarra was accompanied by senior NPC officials, including Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun, Director-General of the Commission, and Dr. Nnamdi Maduekwe, Director of Population Studies. Discussions centered on strengthening inter-agency collaboration to ensure the success of the APLS, which is expected to shape national discourse and policy direction on population management and sustainable growth.
Both the NPC and the Health Ministry reaffirmed their shared vision to tackle Nigeria’s population challenges and drive evidence-based strategies for economic and social development. Full details of the 2025 APLS will be announced in the coming weeks.
