The Northern Youth Congress of Nigeria (NYCN) has endorsed the appointment of Hon. Kayode Oladele as Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), describing him as a visionary leader with the integrity and experience needed to steer the Commission towards its constitutional mandate.
In a statement signed by its National President, Ambassador Auwalu Mohammed Majiri, the NYCN applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it termed a bold commitment to meritocracy and good governance in appointing Oladele to lead the agency in acting capacity.
“Hon. Oladele’s appointment reflects the President’s recognition of competence, capacity, and character,” the group said, urging Tinubu to confirm him as the substantive chairman for the sake of continuity and stability.
The NYCN highlighted Oladele’s track record as a former federal lawmaker, human rights advocate, and public servant with a deep understanding of institutional reform, fairness, and inclusive governance.
“His wealth of experience and dedication to public service position him as the right man to lead the FCC at this critical time,” the statement read. “We are confident he will uphold the Commission’s core values and deliver results that strengthen national unity.”
The group called on FCC management, staff, and stakeholders across the federation to support Oladele in actualizing the Commission’s mission of equitable representation in federal appointments and resource allocation.
It emphasized the importance of Oladele’s confirmation to ensure the agency continues its work of fostering national cohesion through fairness and balanced representation.
“The Federal Character Commission is a pillar of equity in Nigeria’s democracy. Under Hon. Oladele’s leadership, we are optimistic that it will continue to function as a model of transparency and equal opportunity,” NYCN stated.

Representing youths across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, the NYCN reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Oladele and expressed strong confidence in his ability to promote unity, inclusivity, and sustainable development.
“We believe his leadership will not only enhance the Commission’s performance but also deepen the sense of belonging among all Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
