Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Cartographic Association (NCA) has opened discussions with the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office (NMCO) to foster collaboration in advancing geospatial data management and supporting the NCA’s upcoming 46th annual conference scheduled for September 8–12, 2026, in Abuja.
During a courtesy visit to the MCO on Tuesday, in Abuja the NCA delegation, led by its president, Prof. M.L. Rilwan, met with the Director-General of the MCO, Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom, to explore strategic partnerships that would promote innovation in cartography, mineral title administration, and sustainable resource management.
The delegation sought the MCO’s support in championing the conference, which is expected to attract experts, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss the pivotal role of geospatial data in mineral exploration, mining operations, and national development.
Engr. Nkom welcomed the proposal, emphasizing the shared vision between both organizations in leveraging data-driven solutions to boost economic growth.
He assured the NCA of the MCO’s full cooperation, describing the initiative as “a step towards strengthening Nigeria’s geospatial ecosystem for better decision-making in resource management.”
