Nigerian NewsTime Applauds Stakeholders as Anti-Drug, Public Enlightenment Campaign Gains Momentum
The Management and Editorial Board of Nigerian NewsTime Newspaper have expressed profound appreciation to stakeholders for ensuring the successful hosting of the organisation’s official engagement held yesterday at the National Orientation Agency (NOA) headquarters in Abuja.
The event drew key personalities from the media and national public communication sector, with the Director-General of NOA, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, represented by Mrs. Theresa Maduekewe, Director of Abuse, Rights and Narcotics. Nigerian NewsTime acknowledged the Agency’s unwavering support for national orientation and public enlightenment efforts.
Also present was the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), represented by the Secretary of the FCT Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, whose participation highlighted the strong collaboration between the media and national institutions in driving advocacy and public awareness.
A major highlight of the programme was a public lecture titled “Illicit Drugs, Insecurity and Nigeria’s Economy,” which provided critical insights into the damaging impact of drug abuse on national security, productivity, and socio-economic stability. The conversation reinforced the urgent need for multi-sectoral intervention to curb the menace.
The event also witnessed the formal unveiling of the Nigerian NewsTime Foundation’s Schools Project, “Campaign Against Misuse of Illicit Drugs,” designed to promote preventive education among young people. In addition, the Management launched a new educational book, “Dangers of Illicit Drugs,” and honoured notable achievers across the country with special awards.
The Management extended heartfelt appreciation to all invited guests, partners, media professionals, and institutional stakeholders whose collective commitment contributed to the success of the engagement.
