Nigeria, U.S. Deepen Security Cooperation as Intelligence-Led Airstrikes Hit Terrorist Targets — MFA
The Federal Government has confirmed intensified security cooperation and intelligence sharing between Nigeria and the United States, leading to recent precision airstrikes on terrorist strongholds in the North West region.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja on Friday, the government said the collaboration is part of broader international partnerships aimed at countering terrorism and violent extremism threatening national and regional stability.
According to the ministry, the cooperation involves intelligence exchange, strategic coordination, and other security support mechanisms carried out within the framework of international law, respect for sovereignty, and shared global security commitments.
The statement emphasised that Nigeria’s counter-terrorism operations remain guided by the protection of civilian lives and the preservation of national unity, stressing that terrorist attacks against any community—Christian, Muslim, or others—are unacceptable and contrary to Nigeria’s values.

The ministry further noted that the Federal Government continues to strengthen engagements with international partners to degrade terrorist networks, disrupt their financing and logistics, curb cross-border threats, and bolster Nigeria’s security and intelligence capacity.
It assured that relevant diplomatic and security channels will remain active while the public will be kept informed through official updates.
