The newly appointed Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Steel Development (MSD), Dr. Chris. Osa. Isokpunwu, has pledged to fortify and invigorate the Steel Sector in order to unlock its full potential within the nation.
Dr. Chris Osa articulated this vision during the official Handover Ceremony conducted by the former Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mary A. Ogbe on Monday, the 29th of July, 2024, at the Ministry’s Headquarters.

Dr. Chris Osa expressed gratitude to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCFR for endorsing his appointment as the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He urged both the Management and Staff to diligently work towards leveraging the Steel Sector for national industrialization and addressing various socio-economic challenges.
Dr. Chris Osa, the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Steel Development, commended his predecessor, Dr. Mary A. Ogbe, for steering the affairs of the Steel Ministry since its establishment in August 2023. He assured of his commitment to further advance the accomplishments already made under her leadership.
In her remarks, the former Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mary A. Ogbe, emphasized the Ministry’s pivotal role in fostering Steel development, emphasizing that no nation can achieve industrialization without a robust Steel Industry.
She expressed confidence in the capabilities of the new Permanent Secretary, describing him as a proficient and distinguished administrator with an impressive track record.
Dr. Ogbe encouraged the Management and Staff to extend their full support to the new Permanent Secretary for the progress of the Steel and Metal Sector, as well as for the overall advancement of the Ministry and the nation.
Mr. Imeh Ikrikpo, the Director of Metallurgical Raw Materials Development and Investment Promotion, conveyed the Ministry’s delight in welcoming the new Permanent Secretary and assured him of the unwavering support from both the Management and Staff of the Ministry.
