………Vow to address any irregularities in the commission

The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs on Tuesday conducted the screening of Professor Abdullahi Usman Saleh, the newly appointed Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), with a commitment to address any irregularities and fraudulent activities affecting the commission.
Led by Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, the committee without exception agreed to endorse Professor Abdullahi Saleh based on his qualifications and suitability for the position.
Senator Adamu Aliero from Kebbi State, who proposed the motion, highlighted his long-standing acquaintance with the candidate and his commendable track record in the Daawa organization.
Senator Aliero urged the committee members to endorse the nomination, emphasizing Professor Saleh’s impeccable credentials.
Senator Shehu Buba from Bauchi seconded the motion, and the remaining committee members also supported the decision.
Following the screening process, speaking with the PressMen, Senator Abubakar Sani Bello, representing Niger East Senatorial Districts and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, stated that the committee would submit their report to the Senate for approval.
He emphasized the need to avoid prolonged acting capacities and expressed satisfaction with Professor Saleh’s qualifications, citing his proficiency in Arabic and extensive experience in religious affairs.
Senator Sani Bello underscored the importance of addressing the challenges facing the commission, including irregularities and fraudulent activities.
He assured that the committee would exercise diligent oversight to ensure the smooth functioning of the commission.
