Paris, France – Nigeria has made a bold statement on the global stage at the 2025 World Refrigeration Day celebration, held on Wednesday in Paris, France, reaffirmed commitment to deployed advanced refrigeration systems to address food security, improve healthcare delivery, and advance energy sustainability across the country.
The country was represented by Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), and Prince Ade Omole, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) promoter and Diaspora leader.
The high-level event brought together international stakeholders in sustainable refrigeration and energy efficiency, offering Nigeria a vital platform to showcase its growing leadership in climate-smart technologies.
Delegates from around the world shared insights on the critical role refrigeration plays in societal well-being—from ensuring food safety and public health to supporting animal welfare and scaling technologies like artificial intelligence. Speakers highlighted progress, challenges, and country-specific success stories in sustainable cooling.
Dr. Abdullahi delivered a compelling keynote address, unveiling Nigeria’s strategic vision for deploying advanced refrigeration systems to address food security, improve healthcare delivery, and advance energy sustainability.

“Nigeria cannot afford to lag in the application of smart, sustainable refrigeration technologies,” Dr. Abdullahi stated. “From preserving food and vaccines to minimizing energy waste, efficient cooling is integral to our national development priorities—particularly under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The session was expertly moderated by Dr. Mariana Castaño, a globally respected authority on sustainable energy transitions. It featured contributions from high-ranking officials and policymakers from France, Senegal, Kuwait, and India, as well as representatives of the European Commission.
