The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring, Rep. Boma Goodhead, has expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to compete globally through indigenous industrial capacity.
She gave the assurance during an oversight visit to Zobis Cable Nigeria Ltd., a leading indigenous cable manufacturing company in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Goodhead hailed the company’s technological innovation and compliance with the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act, noting that Zobis Cable is a model for Nigeria’s industrial growth agenda under President Bola Tinubu.
“What we have seen here is a strong demonstration of Nigerian ingenuity, technical excellence and industrial advancement,” she said.
“With the right policy support and access to the oil and gas value chain, indigenous manufacturers like Zobis Cable can compete globally.”
She said the company’s operations align with President Tinubu’s “Nigeria First Goods and Services” policy, which mandates Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to prioritise locally made products.
Goodhead further assured that the House Committee would strengthen legislation to protect local industries, boost investment, promote import substitution and expand job creation.
Chief Executive Officer of John Zobis Group, Mr. John Ezeobi, described the committee’s visit as a boost to local manufacturing advocacy.
“This engagement will connect indigenous industries like ours to major players in the oil and gas sector and reduce reliance on imported cables,” he said.
Ezeobi called on both Federal and State Governments to support manufacturers with single-digit interest loans and improved access to raw materials. He also emphasised the need for industrial support in power generation.
Receiving the committee on behalf of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Anambra State Commissioner for Industry, Christian Udechukwu, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to industrial growth.

He noted that the Soludo administration had improved security, power supply and infrastructure to attract investment and strengthen manufacturing in the state.
The visit highlighted a growing synergy between government and private industry aimed at driving Nigeria’s industrial resurgence and reducing dependence on imports.
