The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Captain Adebanke Osilaja on her historic elevation as the first licensed Nigerian female Pilot to attain the rank of Captain in any United States Legacy Airline.
In a statement signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocol Unit at NiDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa described Osilaja’s breakthrough as a landmark achievement and a proud moment for Nigeria.
She noted that rising to the position of Captain in a major American carrier reflects “exceptional professionalism, resilience and mastery,” applauding Osilaja for setting a new standard of excellence for Nigerians in the global aviation industry.
Dabiri-Erewa added that Osilaja’s accomplishment serves as a strong motivation for young Nigerians, especially girls aspiring to careers in aviation and other male-dominated fields.

The NiDCOM boss wished the trailblazing pilot continued success in her career.
It will be recalled that Captain Osilaja was among the honourees at the 2025 National Diaspora Merit Awards held in Abuja in July.
