Lagos, — The OVL Foundation, in collaboration with the Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Social Development (IHSD) and Kratos, has honoured four doctorate recipients and three ambassadors for their outstanding contributions to humanitarian service.
At the awards ceremony held in Lagos, Dr. Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, Chief Executive Officer of OVL Foundation, said the event was part of efforts to recognise individuals whose work had made meaningful impact in underserved communities.
Victor-Laniyan said the foundation, which marked its 10th year of operations, had directly touched more than five million lives through various interventions, with a target to double the figure in the next five years.
She described the awardees as exemplars of compassion and service, noting that their efforts had helped strengthen the foundation’s mission of lifting vulnerable groups and promoting social development.
“Our shared humanity binds us, and these awardees have demonstrated what it means to touch lives and leave lasting legacies,” she said.
Dr. Francis Orija, Registrar of IHSD, said the awards were not merely ceremonial but a deliberate recognition of individuals who had shown exceptional dedication to humanity.
He said the recipients were selected for their exemplary commitment, partnership with OVL Foundation and consistent demonstration of humanitarian virtues.
“This is about celebrating people who go beyond their call of duty to make society better,” Orija said.
One of the honourees, Dr. Victor Okahi, said the recognition had placed a greater responsibility on him to further advocate on national issues and support communities in need.

He commended OVL Foundation for its far-reaching interventions, describing the organisation as a vital platform driving timely and impactful humanitarian initiatives.
The ceremony, attended by development partners, civil society actors and community leaders, also highlighted the importance of collective effort, compassion and sustained support in advancing humanitarian causes.
