The National Emergency Management Agency, Lagos Operations Office (NEMA LOO), has launched the 2025 edition of Operation Eagle Eye to enhance road safety and ensure prompt emergency response during the yuletide season.
The operation, which commenced on Wednesday, is being carried out in collaboration with the Lagos and Ogun Sector Commands of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The exercise kicked off at OPIC Junction along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway corridor.
Speaking during the launch, Head of Operations, NEMA Lagos Office, Mr. Mohammed Olatunde, said the initiative was designed to promote safety and reduce accidents during the festive period, which is usually characterised by heavy vehicular movement.
Olatunde explained that NEMA is supporting the FRSC with its Medical Intensive Care Unit as well as Search and Rescue extrication units to ensure prompt intervention in the event of road traffic crashes.
He added that Operation Eagle Eye would continue throughout the festive season as part of sustained efforts to safeguard lives and ensure safer roads for commuters.

The exercise featured a joint team comprising NEMA officials, the FRSC Lagos Sector Commander, Mr. Kehinde Hamzat, and his Ogun counterpart, Mr. Akinwunmi Fasakin. The team focused on traffic control, safety enforcement and ensuring free flow of movement on the already congested Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
Traffic outbound Lagos, which had built up due to increased travel activities, was monitored and managed by the combined officials, ensuring smoother movement for motorists and commuters travelling for the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
