The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, for attempting to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine concealed under a fake pregnancy belly wrap in Lagos.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, said Ezewuike—a mother of one and owner of Golden Star Creation, a fashion business in Ago Palace Way, Okota—was intercepted on Friday, August 22, 2025, at Jibowu Bus Terminal, Yaba, while traveling to Abuja to deliver the drug consignment. A search of her residence led to the recovery of 200 grams of a cocaine cutting agent. She reportedly confessed to inheriting the drug trade from her late husband despite running her fashion brand for over two decades.
In a separate operation in Lagos, NDLEA operatives with the Directorate of Operation and General Investigation (DOGI) intercepted 90 parcels of “Loud” cannabis, weighing 48.6 kilograms, concealed in imported kitchen sinks at a courier company.
The agency also intensified crackdowns across other states. In Adamawa, operatives raided the residence of a notorious dealer in Yola South, arresting an associate in possession of hundreds of thousands of tramadol pills. In Kogi, a suspect was apprehended at Idah waterside with large quantities of opioids after crossing the River Niger from Onitsha. Kano operatives recovered thousands of opioid pills and codeine syrup from multiple suspects and a fugitive’s residence.
In Kwara, NDLEA intercepted nearly 2.3 tonnes of skunk in three separate truck seizures around Ajase-Ipo, while Ekiti officers arrested two suspects with cannabis in Ikere-Ekiti. Raids in Taraba, Edo, Delta, and Ondo states led to the destruction of over 75,000 kilograms of cannabis on farmlands and in warehouses.

In Abuja, two dispatch riders were caught in Jabi distributing packaged drugs, including pentazocine injections and skunk, to buyers across the city.
Commending the operations, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) praised the agency’s resilience and urged officers to sustain the balanced strategy of aggressive enforcement and public sensitization under the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign, which also featured school and community advocacy drives during the week.
