Federal Government Names Dr. Anisere Dele as Registrar of Dental Therapists’ Board

The Federal Government has appointed Dr. Anisere Dele as the new Registrar of the Dental Therapists’ Registration Board of Nigeria (DThRBN), a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

This was disclosed in a press statement signed by Alaba Balogun, Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations, on Thursday.

Dr. Dele’s appointment is for a four-year term, effective from May 5, 2025.

Speaking during the presentation of the letter of appointment at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, commended the rigorous selection process that led to the appointment.

“Your appointment, which followed a thorough and diligent process, is highly commendable. I’m pleased we were able to identify someone capable of moving the DThRBN forward over the next four years,” the Minister said.

Dr. Salako emphasized the government’s expectations for the Board, particularly in strengthening regulation within the dental therapy profession. He tasked the new Registrar with eliminating quackery and ensuring that only accredited programmes and licensed practitioners operate within the sector.

“The growth of the profession depends on your ability to regulate effectively. We must eliminate unlicensed practitioners and shut down unapproved programmes. As long as quackery exists, it means the Board is not fulfilling its core mandate,” he stated.

Wishing Dr. Dele a successful tenure, the Minister urged him to leverage his experience and professional network to enhance the standards and reputation of the dental therapy profession in Nigeria.
