The Northeast Senate caucus and House of Representatives have praised the Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) for providing relief to the victims of floods and various calamities in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The caucus reiterated their appreciation, especially for the victims of Boko Haram, commending the commission for its unwavering dedication to the region’s development.
This occurred on Tuesday when the caucus elected six new officials to oversee the region’s affairs in Abuja.
Led by Senator Mohammed Danjuma Goje, the chairman representing Gombe Central Senatorial District. However the caucus celebrated their accomplishments, notably the establishment of the Northeast Development Commission.
Speaking with the press, the caucus reiterated that, the are performing admirably, particularly in the commission’s substantial aid to the flood-affected areas. They have extended significant support to various flood-stricken regions in the northeast.
“The commission has made significant contributions to education, road infrastructure, and even undertaken the maintenance of some federal roads.
“Additionally, they have made strides in the healthcare and agriculture sectors. Even before the Federal Government announced its agricultural policy, the Northeast Development Commission had already initiated agricultural projects in partnership with the government and stakeholders.”
The caucus elected new officials, keeping Goje as chairman, indicating a renewed dedication to the advancement and prosperity of the Northeast.
Muhammed Bello Dabo from Borno State was appointed as secretary, while Senator David JimKuta Yaro assumed the role of publicity secretary, and Senator Binos Yaro from Adamawa State was appointed treasurer.
Hadiza Abba was designated as financial secretary, showcasing the caucus’s commitment to gender inclusivity in leadership.
