The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the Federal Government to construct an additional pedestrian bridge at the NASFAT camp crossing along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, following the approval of similar projects for two major Christian camps on the same corridor.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, the Executive Director of MURIC, Ishaq Akintola, appealed to the Federal Government to ensure inclusivity in the ongoing infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving safety along the busy highway.
The group’s appeal comes after the Federal Government reportedly approved the construction of modern pedestrian bridges at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy, Asese, both located along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Describing the move as “commendable,” MURIC said while infrastructure development is essential for economic growth, the protection of human lives must remain paramount.
“Modern pedestrian bridges in front of both Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy are absolute necessities in view of the volume of both vehicular and human traffic in those places in order to save lives,” Akintola stated, noting that the decision reflects the government’s concern for public safety.
However, the group urged the Federal Government to extend the same consideration to the NASFAT camp, citing similar traffic and humanitarian concerns along that axis.
MURIC further reminded authorities that the NASFAT pedestrian bridge was originally listed among the 23 pedestrian bridges proposed for construction along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“As work picks up at the Redemption Camp and Christ Embassy, we call the Federal Government’s attention to a similar humanitarian situation at NASFAT camp along the same axis,” the statement added.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway remains one of Nigeria’s busiest highways, with heavy vehicular and human movement, particularly during large religious gatherings, prompting recurring calls for enhanced safety measures.
