The Lagos State Chapter of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has congratulated the Vice President II of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), Alhaji Thabit Wale Sonaike, and his wife, Alhaja Bilikis Tokunbo Sonaike, on their turbaning as Baba Adinni and Iya Sunnah of the Akoka Muslim Central Mosque, Akoka, Lagos State.
The turbaning ceremony, described as a landmark recognition of sustained commitment to Islam and community service, took place on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Nigerian Army Sports Centre, Somolu, Lagos, and attracted dignitaries from across the country.
In a congratulatory message issued by the MURIC Lagos State Chairman, Dr. Busari Jamiu Muhammad Ademola, the organisation said the honour bestowed on the couple reflected decades of selfless dedication to the growth of Islam and the welfare of humanity.
Dr. Ademola described Alhaji Sonaike as a seasoned banker, Muslim leader and philanthropist who has devoted his life and resources to the service of Islam, noting that the turbaning of both husband and wife was a testament to their consistency and sacrifice in religious and community affairs.
According to MURIC, the recognition serves as encouragement to other Muslims to remain committed to the values of service, humility and devotion to the faith.

The group prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the couple good health, protection and long life, urging them to remain steadfast and continue upholding Islamic principles in their leadership roles.
MURIC further beseeched Allah to preserve the Sonaikes in goodness and bless them with continued guidance and prosperity as they advance the cause of Islam and humanity.
