The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has condoled with Nasir El-Rufai following the death of his mother, Hajiya Ummah El-Rufai, while also commending the Federal Government for granting him temporary bail to attend her funeral.
Hajiya Ummah El-Rufai passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, prompting an outpouring of sympathy from political allies, family members, and civil society organisations across the country.
In a statement issued by its Executive Director, Ishaq Akintola, MURIC expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended condolences to the former Kaduna State governor, his son Bello El-Rufai, and the entire El-Rufai family.
The group described the late matriarch as a woman of strong character, noting that her values were reflected in her son’s principles. MURIC urged the family to take solace in what it described as divine mercy, emphasizing gratitude for life and legacy.
MURIC also offered prayers for the repose of the deceased, asking Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannah Firdaus.
In a significant highlight of its statement, the organisation commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for facilitating the temporary bail granted to El-Rufai.

According to the group, the decision reflects a humane approach within Nigeria’s justice system, contrasting it with past incidents where prominent figures, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and Sambo Dasuki, were unable to attend their mothers’ funerals while in detention.
MURIC concluded that the gesture signals a shift toward a more compassionate administration of justice, describing it as “a human face added to embellish the corridor of justice in Nigeria.”
