The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has strongly condemned the brutal assault of a female member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) allegedly perpetrated by a local vigilante officer in Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Awka, Mrs. Soludo described the incident as “unacceptable, disturbing, and dehumanising,” stressing that no justification exists for such an act of abuse.
The Anambra State Police Command confirmed the arrest of the vigilante operative linked to the attack after a viral video of the incident sparked outrage online.
“I have seen a viral video of the sad incident involving men of the Agunechemba security network and a female corps member serving in Anambra. Such demeaning approach to law and order does not in any manner reflect our celebrated identity as a hospitable and peaceful people. It does not represent the humane philosophy of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration, either,” she said.

Mrs. Soludo called on relevant authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, ensure justice for the victim, and put preventive measures in place to avert future occurrences.
“There are always rules of engagement in such situations, and they must prioritise dignity, civility, and respect. Anambra’s image is priceless. We must guard it jealously,” she added.
